I’ve experienced it, and I can guess that you have to. So eliminate your career blockages now, with this complete guide.

Whether the problem stems from your limiting patterns or beliefs others hold about you, you can identify the cause of the block and transform these negative experiences into pivotal moments and unleash your confidence and success.

4 Steps to Eliminate Your Career Blockages and Achieve Confidence & Success

  1. Be sensitive & notice negative thinking quickly.
  2. Activate your discernment by separating the four parts of the mind.
  3. Be accurate to identify the cause of the block.
  4. Program yourself with a preferred pattern.

If you’re becoming a solo-preneur or aiming to get the advancement you deserve at work, repatterning your unconscious limitations and blockages will free you to take action and improve your career.  I’m going to teach each of the above steps to you and give examples along the way.

Through these examples, you’ll gain a solid understanding of how and why the process works.

I know that it can be a very emotional process, mainly if the cause is rooted in past trauma or deeply seeded cultural beliefs.  Because of that, I’ve included my top tips for breaking through the barrier of discouragement to help you continue even when it seems impossible.

How Does a Blockage get Triggered?

Blockages are triggered when you are overthinking. Thinking with more than a few words over-engages your emotions and brings up your ego’s defensive qualities. Your faculty of discernment becomes faulty and destabilizes the mind, fertilizing the blockage.

I’ll explain this a little more deeply by giving you a background on how the mind works.

Blockages and the Faculties of the Mind

Four parts make up the faculties of the mind.  They are pure awareness, identity construct (ego), discernment, and the fourth part is the vast store-house of impressions created by your experiences.  In Hinduism, the fourth aspect of the mind is called citta (chĭ-tə).   Citta is all of the beliefs you’ve built up over time.

Citta’s the conditioning from your upbringing and cultural influences, and it’s the beliefs of any of the groups, ideas, or people with whom you identify.

For this article’s purposes, you don’t have to understand how these pieces work together; it’s enough to know what they are and that they work together.

Blockages, Your Physical Intelligence, and the Autonomic Nervous System

Overthinking pulls your ego into the situation you have in mind. Thinking gets tied up with emotions, and then your physical intelligence reacts to all of this (based on the impressions stored in your citta).

Your physical intelligence informs your autonomic nervous system (ANS) to engage in the situation, but it’s just a messenger.  So your ANS operates from the base instructions it receives and reacts to the information coming through to it from citta (your karmic storehouse).

Within your subconscious mind, the impressions of your past experiences are feeding information to your ANS by way of your physical intelligence.  What your conscious mind experiences is more negative thinking and an onslaught of subtle sensations.

Your body and mind interpret these sensations as generalized anxiety, fear, or physical pain.  The process outlined above can even resurrect disturbing emotions.

Blockages, Emotions, and the Telephone Game

It’s like the world’s worst game of telephone playing out in your head without your knowing!  Do you know the game I’m referencing?  It’s where you get a group of people in a circle.  You whisper a message into one person’s ear, and they whisper what they heard into the next person’s ear.

The game goes on, and then the message gets back to you.  When that happens, it’s nowhere near what you had conveyed at the start of the game.  The words have changed, and the underlying meaning of the message isn’t the same.  How can you blame your ANS for triggering emotional turmoil in that state of confusion!?

So let me help you understand this process better by giving you an example.  After that, you’ll have the background you need to fully understand how to use the steps and how and why it works.

The Old Paradigm: Case Study

Let’s say you have a wildly awesome idea you’d like to make manifest in your life.  Maybe it’s something you’ve always dreamed of or something entirely new.  For example, you say to yourself, “I want to start an online consulting business!”  And KA-BOOM, you have an intrusive negative thought that brings a series of emotionalized thoughts.

The string of thoughts might look like this.  “Ughh, it would take so much time, and I have other responsibilities.  I don’t even know how to talk about what I do, let alone market it.  I’d like my friend to be involved, but they’ll be a drag about some things.   Well, other people are already doing that anyway, so why should I bother.”

The example demonstrates how your negative thinking engages the ego in a not-so-healthy way and gets tied up with emotions.

But it doesn’t stop there!

You experience sensations, and your autonomic functions react.  Your breathing changes, thanks to the ANS, and things spiral out of control.

All of this begs the question that follows.

How is a Blockage Limiting Me?

Blockages surface to protect your past identity, and because it is rooted in the past, they limit your ability to make improvements in your present life.  They also limit you by keeping you from identifying and resolving the underlying reason they were created.

When over-thinking and emotionalizing spiral out of control, your interactions with others, and the choices you make are impaired, ultimately resulting in your failure to identify the actual weakness that’s present.  Eventually, you come out of the negative experience that started with over-thinking, but everything goes back to sleep.

You haven’t identified or eliminated your career blockage or limitation. You haven’t made any progress toward your goal with your discerning mind, nor have you taken any physical actions toward improving your life.

Furthermore, you’ve set aside your wildly awesome idea.  If you start thinking about your wildly awesome idea, you repeat some version of the same pattern.  The idea and the negative pattern are both sleeping and waiting to be triggered again.

Blockages as a Catalyst for Transformation

Interestingly, when your career blockage gets triggered, you find an excellent opportunity to access and resolve a causal factor of your suffering.

Accurate identification of this causal factor is vital because it is the kind of knowledge that is power. Merely knowing the factor that causes a blockage empowers you to eliminate your career blockage.

The good news is that your experience doesn’t have to get to the “spiraling out of control” state before you can identify the underlying cause or reason for your block and assume the power it brings.

It’s a whole lot easier if you access your discernment long before that point!  Let me show you what that will look like once the 4-step process to remove your career blockages is active within you.

The New Paradigm: Case Study

So, you think, “I want to start a consulting business, and I’d like to engage my friend.  I have all of these skills, and a consulting business would be an awesome way to provide a useful service to others and make money for myself.  I could choose my hours and do things my way.”

“Yeah!  I do like this idea, but I don’t know how to market.  That information is learnable, though.  I can see this happening; I feel strongly about it.  I feel that the right conversations with the right people will happen at the right time through existing relationships or new relationships.  And now I find that I’m curious about marketing.”

Does that thought process make sense, but also look more optimistic than your norm?  Well, let’s dig into the steps to eliminate your career blockages and activate them within you. 

Step 1: Be Sensitive & Notice Negative Thinking Quickly

I can’t overstate the importance of noticing negative thinking as quickly as it starts.  Strange as it may seem, there is a correct process to thinking.  While this process is crucial to identifying and eliminating your career blockages, it’s also a lynchpin in gaining control over your mind by stopping overthinking.

Correct thinking not only gives you control to notice negative thinking quickly, but it is proven to stop all forms of overthinking.

Correct thinking is a critical component in the 4-step process to identify and eliminate your career blockages.

3 Steps to Notice and Stop Overthinking

  1. Be sensitive to changes in your breath.
  2. Think briefly in as few words as possible.
  3. Stop thinking as quickly as possible.

As a means to cultivate sensitivity to notice the moment you begin overthinking, become very sensitive to your physical body’s signal that overthinking is starting.  Your physical body gives you a clue by altering the qualities of your breath.  Restrictions can be in the form of shallowness, jerkiness, noise, and pausing.

These signals from your breathing are all signals to stop overthinking.

Your breathing may even become hesitant and stop for several seconds.  Be aware of evenness and differences in the qualities in each of the four parts of the breath.

The Four Parts of the Breath

  1. Exhalation
  2. The transition from exhalation to inhalation
  3. Inhalation
  4. The transition from inhalation to exhalation

You have the obvious inhale and exhale, but you also have the two transitions that are a gradation between the other two.  They are the transition from the exhale to the inhale, and the transition from the inhale to the exhale.  As the definition of gradation implies, transitional parts of the breath have qualities of both the inhalation and the exhalation as a shift takes place from one to the other.

Limiting Beliefs About Controlling Your Thinking

Whether you’re new to controlling your mind or an established meditator, the 3-step process to control your thinking can sound daunting for many reasons.  For instance, some people have received “expert information” that humans should passively observe thinking, and we are incapable of stopping it.

Furthermore, a considerable mass of people incorrectly believes this false information.  By knowing the qualities of your natural breath, you have a conduit to notice overthinking and stop it quickly.

The belief that you’re incapable of stopping thoughts stems from misinterpretations of ancient texts written by sages who achieved mastery over their mind. You can learn a lot from experts and gurus, but words are known to be weak transmitters of meaning.

I’m sure you’ve heard the adage that the finger pointing at the moon is not the moon.  In this visual example, the finger is the words, and the moon is the meaning held by the person pointing.  The point of the adage is not to get the words confused with their meaning.

Other applicable points could be made about the teacher’s purpose and actually knowing the moon in comparison to the teacher’s meaning, but I’ll just leave that at a brief note to tickle your senses for now.  I’ll save it for another article!

To continue, meaning becomes solidified quite quickly with belief added to the mix.  Furthermore, as more people pour their belief into a false idea, it becomes a more significant influencing factor for the population.

In this case, the concept that you cannot control or stop your thoughts is a limiting factor preventing you from being able to eliminate your career blockage, and that keeps you from succeeding.

Correct Thinking and Liberating Your Mind

Correct thinking will give you control over your mind, and it will make you the master of your mind.  It will also make you the master over your life by giving you access to the discerning faculty of your mind.  Discernment is where you choose actions to take based on insights, and you cease to be a slave.

Effectively, you liberate yourself from consensus beliefs (like the one I described in the preceding paragraphs).  You become liberated from faulty beliefs about your past and future too.

While it might sound like a big task to notice and stop over-thinking, your body is always giving you clues.

Activating Your Sensitivity to Notice Overthinking

Because your body knows that natural breathing is smooth, even, steady, and quiet; any quality outside of this will signal you to stop thinking in words.  If a thought arises, it will be limited to very few words and then stop.  Furthermore, as you read this energetically activated article, the ability to stop overthinking is being activated within you.

Another support for you is the next step in the process.  When you separate the different faculties of the mind and activate your discernment, your thinking naturally becomes brief to allow for intuitive insights.

Step 2: Activate your Discernment by Separating the 4 Parts of the Mind

Now you understand the correct thinking process and have the sensitivity to notice over-thinking, so use the awareness of over-thinking as a cosmic invitation to activate your discernment.  The simplest way to do this is to separate your mind into its four parts by pulling emotions out of the equation.

When your thinking is working correctly, it is not only brief, but it’s emotionless.  Emotions are powerful influencers.  You can use your emotions to influence others, and other people use their emotions to control you.

The Case for Disconnecting Emotions from Thinking and Feeling (Perception)

Emotions aren’t bad, though.  They help you bond and connect to people.  They can even alert you to something you want to change about your life or the world.  Emotionalized thinking is thinking that is not clear.  So you want to de-emotionalize your thinking when you’re eliminating a deeply-seeded issue like your career blockage!

Additionally, it’s essential to understand that perception and feeling are not emotions, and emotions do not power them.  With your sense of feeling disconnected from your emotions, intuition can be freely and objectively received.

Therefore, harmonizing these three elements is powerful and vital.

Because you want intuition to be freely, objectively, and accurately received, harmonizing these elements, thoughts, emotions, and feelings is vital.

Quantum Harmonization is an energetic technique that you can do on your own.  Next, I will teach you that process with the use of an energetically activated video, and at the same time, pull your emotions away from your thinking and perception.  Once this happens, your discerning faculty will simply step into its proper role.

  • Clearly separate the elements (e.g., thinking, emotions, and feeling)
  • Place the elements on a circle, evenly
  • Feel the shape very strongly in your body
  • Use that strength to disconnect from any issues that surface

Intuition is the key to the next two steps.  You’ve probably been giving your career blockage a lot of thought and emotional energy with little progress.  The good news is that your intuitive nature won’t let you down, so let’s continue!

Step 3: Be Accurate to Identify the Cause of the Block

With a quick and brief thought in your own words, ask yourself what the blockage’s cause is.  “What is the cause of this unhealthy pattern?”  At the end of this thought, stop thinking, and your intuitive faculties will take over.

The answer may not come in words, and it may not come to your conscious mind.  You can receive the cause of the block as a subtle sensation within your body or energy field.  You might experience some emotions, or you might even remember something from your past.

Whatever the cause, the action you take next will be the same.  Since you’re not the same person you were when you created the pattern, it is no longer relevant.  Chances are, the career blockage relates to a formative experience from your distant past, or you created it from others’ opinions.

Once you identify the cause of the block, whether it came up in the form of a story for you to remember, a brief thought, or a subtle sensation, the key is to disconnect from it.  You know that the cause or reason you created the blockage no longer holds.

Use this knowledge, coupled with the power you gained from the harmonization exercise to disconnect.  Disconnect the blockage, the blockage’s cause, any reasoning behind it, and all weakening effects of having had the blockage.

Now, go ahead and intend for this disconnection to extend infinitely into the past and the future.  It’ll give a boost to the next step.

Step 4: Program Yourself with a Preferred Pattern

You’ve made it so far, and now you get to do the fun part!  Use your intuition and brief thinking.  Decide what you want to play out to replace the negative experience from your past.

Be specific and include what you want to take place internally and externally.  Additionally, this is a great time to set a manifestation that you want to realize concerning your career success.

An Example from the Case Study

  • I will notice negative thinking quickly, and I will think correctly.
  • I will separate my thinking, emotions, and feelings.
  • Insights about starting a consulting business will come to me as brief thoughts, and I will use my discernment and take action.
  • The right conversations will happen with the right people at the right time.
  • These conversations will alert me to the information that I need, and I will fill in any knowledge gaps.

That’s it!  You can read your list every morning and evening to solidify the new pattern into your conscious and unconscious mind.  You don’t need to build up a belief or visualize the new pattern, and I recommend not doing that.

You used your discerning mind and intuition to create the new pattern.  So using the new intuitively conceived pattern to replace the original pattern gives the new pattern plenty of power.

Just read your new pattern daily to keep it fresh.

How Can I Keep Going When I Feel Discouraged?

Having someone to talk to can help.  Counseling from a friend or a professional may be just what you need—receiving confirmation that your situation can and will change in a specific way allows you to step outside of your blockages.

It can be painful when a blockage relates to deeply seeded ancestral or cultural patterns.  Blockages can also bring up emotional and physical pain from your traumas.  It’s important to know that accepting help and assistance is okay.  You aren’t giving your power over to someone or something else.

It Really is Okay to Ask For Help

You can lean on another person's strength and perspective until a new pattern forms within you, and the new pattern expresses in your choices and actions.

Counseling from a friend or a professional may be just what you need, so you may want to consider what options you have available.  As an energetics practitioner, my perspective can apply to your experience with a helpful friend or a professional counselor.

When you hear someone confirm that your situation can and will change in a specific way, you feel the strength and activation of that possibility.  The possibility shifts to probability and becomes definite.  Hearing and feeling this allows you to step outside of your career blockages.

You’re able to notice the shift taking place, and own it!

What is Shadow, and What Makes it Hard to Deal With?

When the cause of a blockage is surfacing, you may experience unwanted feelings or emotions.  If that is the case, then there are shadow aspects of your identity tangled up in the block.  Shadow refers to the traumas, fears, and other aspects of yourself that you don’t want to see.

They’ve become part of your identity construct, and life without them seems impossible.

It makes sense that many people don’t want to look at and resolve their shadow-self, but they don’t understand the fruit on the other side.

Why Keep Going? (Because You Know You Can!)

With your experience of feeling the strength that comes from knowing that you don’t have to be shaped by your outdated beliefs, you can cultivate the desire to resolve your deepest, darkest, scariest fears.

You’ll soon find that the experience doesn’t have to continue to be horrible and traumatic to your physical, spiritual, and mental being.

With persistence and continued improvements, you will have more experiences of realizing the positive changes in your life.  These results are now in your pocket, and you have everything you need to keep going!

It’s great to begin the journey of improving your life so that you are free to succeed in your career or show up better for your loved ones.  However, the real magic lies in deciding to change for yourself simply because you know that you can do it.
